The WHL season is in it’s 2nd week and a 5th team (Calgary) has begun action to round out the Central division along with Edmonton, Red Deer, Medicine Hat & Lethbridge. The East Division will play in Regina as the Hub city and begin March 12. The U.S. division will then start March 18th. Finally, the B.C. division recently announced a start date of March 26th.

Week 1 was all about the Edmonton Oil Kings and specifically Dylan Guenther & Sebastien Cossa. Well, week 2 was pretty much the same story.
Guenther continues to start the season red hot. He now has 10 points in 4 games including a 3 game goal scoring streak in which he registered 2 goals in each game. He was however, held off the scoresheet in his last game versus Medicine Hat, but still leads 2021 prospects from the 5 teams in points by a large margin already.
His teammate Sebastien Cossa, has also had a tremendous start to the season. The 6’6.5″ goaltender is not only big but incredibly athletic for his size. And as shown here, flashes a real quick glove hand.
Both players look like sure-fire 1st rounders right now, with Guenther possessing Top 5 potential.
Meanwhile in Calgary, Sean Tshilgerl scored in both games for the Hitmen (including a highlight reel 1st goal) and made a positive first impression on our WHL prospect analyst Spencer Pomoty with his great work ethic & hockey sense.
Tschigerl is real strong along the boards and appears to have that middle/bottom 6 NHL potential. He should be a fun player to track and an early sleeper candidate for the 2021 draft.
