Day six is in the books and the only Oiler playing today was Philip Broberg. Sweden took on team Russia and lost by a score of 4-3 in overtime. Broberg played close to 24 minutes tonight which put him second in TOI on Sweden behind Soderstrom.
All I can say is that he seemed off tonight. The captain played a horrible first two periods, but I found he bounced back in the third and managed to get a great individual scoring chance. In my eyes, he just looked like he didn’t have that extra step tonight. I would love to see him get a bit more physical, there were too many times where he was just reaching for the puck or got blown by. He has the four-way mobility to stop these, yet he relies on his reach to cover for him. Whether he is injured or just had a bad game, he needs to find his stride again for this team to have any chance.
We should have a better idea if he is injured or not as Sweden plays again tomorrow versus the U.S.
