Welcome to our weekly update on CHL prospects. Here are the leading scorers among all 3 leagues for the 2020 draft eligibles & 16 yr old CHL rookies.

OHL
Quinton Byfield has 1 goal in his last 5 games though does have 6 assists as well during that timeframe. Sudbury was on a 5 game road trip which may have had something to do with that…
Cole Perfetti also went scoreless over the weekend though did register 3 assists in 3 games.
Tyson Foerster is probably the most underrated prospect in all of the CHL perhaps. He scored another 3 goals over the weekend and thru 13 games this season, he has not gone more than 1 game without a goal. Video highlights of his goals below.
In London, all eyes have been on Antonio Stranges who is a having a solid year, but Luke Evangelista has really started to heat up playing with former 1st rounder Connor McMichael. Evangelista registered a hat trick last week and is now up to 5 goals & 9 points in his last 4 games. The former 2018 OHL 1st rd pick has always had the talent but is now exuding confidence and shooting the puck more (17 shots last 4 games) which is good to see. He’s a speedster billed as more of a playmaker than shooter but appears to be rounding out his game. Keep an eye on him, this might be the beginning of a breakout.

QMJHL
Alexis Lafreniere continues to get all the hype (39 points in 16 games) but it’s time people pay more attention to Dawson Mercer.
Dawson Mercer continues to lead the entire CHL for draft eligibles in goals. He has 13 in 16 games. What’s more impressive however, is how he scores his goals. Mercer is known for his big shot and release and for good reason – he can rip the puck. But, what’s not being talked about enough is how he has tremendous puck skills & exceptional puck control that would make any scout drool.
Mercer is an extremely talented, and underrated prospect by many it appears so far this season. He exhibits all the traits prototypical 1st round picks of the past generally possess. Check out this fantastic video below breaking down his game in full detail.

WHL
Connor Zary continues to lead the entire WHL with 21 points now in 14 games. His 70 shots on goal are also tops in the league though he is still stuck on only 5 goals (16 assists).
Seth Jarvis continues to rack up the points for Portland and make his case as the best draft eligible forward coming out of the Dub. Jarvis, has a goal in 3 straight games and has scored a goal in 5 of his last 6 games (all wins) for the Winterhawks. He is a very good skater who goes hard to the net, and has some very nice puck skills. (See video below)
Justin Soudif‘s production has really dropped off since a hot start to the season.
